Paper and cardboard recycling

We collect paper and cardboard every two weeks. Place it loose in your:

  • green or black box
  • blue wheeled bin, for flats and schools only

What we collect

  • paper – magazines, newspapers, envelopes and junk mail
  • cardboard – greeting cards, cardboard packaging, corrugated cardboard, toilet and kitchen rolls
  • mixed card and paper – books, directories and catalogues

Extra recycling

Our crews will collect a reasonable amount of additional recycling, equivalent to two paper boxes worth.

Please ensure:

  • any side waste is contained and placed at the side of the relevant container
  • cardboard boxes are flattened and no larger than one square metre

We can’t collect

  • plastic packaging (film or carrier bags)
  • shredded paper (this clogs up the sorting machines)
  • cartons (please use your blue wheeled bin or bags)
  • waxed or laminated paper/cardboard (crisp tubes and ice cream cartons)
