Scheduled monuments

There are several scheduled monuments in the Wycombe district. "Scheduling" is the process through which nationally important archaeological sites and monuments are given legal protection by being placed on a list.

Any work to a designated monument requires scheduled monument consent (external website).

Historic England

  • Historic England (external website) is the national body responsible for listing, planning, grants or heritage research and advice.
  • See Historic England: Listing (external website) for information about the schedule of monuments that gives legal protection to archaeological sites.
