Hughenden Manor conservation area
This conservation area lies in the base of the Hughenden Valley, just north of High Wycombe. It is best known as the home of Benjamin Disraeli, former Prime Minister, and the estate is in the hands of the Nation Trust.
The main house, Hughenden Manor, lies slightly elevated above the valley floor, with views south, against a backdrop of woodland. The Manor House is an 18th century building remodelled in the 19th century in a grand style. Other buildings of importance include the stable yard and ancillary buildings and the pretty church of St Michael, which lies lower on the valley floor close to the Hughenden Stream.
The park is included in the conservation area due to the role it plays in views north from High Wycombe, and its importance as a setting for the buildings.
