The Common Flackwell Heath conservation area

Flackwell Heath is a large, sprawling commuter suburb close to High Wycombe, located on the hilltops to the south of the conurbation. There are many pockets of historic buildings, but the conservation area focuses on the oldest part of the village, which is no longer on the main route through it. It comprises rows of cottages, many dating from the 19th century, ranged around what was once two lanes which evolved into The Common, and is now a small area of open space upon which the war memorial is sited.

Older buildings lie to the east of the road in a scattered piecemeal pattern of plots and alleys. To the west lie later artisan terraces of brick, on narrow plots. Although close to the modern centre of the village, it is a quiet enclave of attractive buildings.
