Speen conservation area

This conservation area covers the historic core of Speen, a straggling village high on the Chiltern scarp, close to Princes Risborough.

There is no defined core to the village, which has grown up along the various roads that converge in the settlement. However, there is a large central playing field which provides a green space at the heart of the conservation area. Most of the listed buildings in the village are in the vicinity of the King William IV pub.

Attractive clusters of historic cottages are found along the lanes that run through the village. The conservation area retains a rural feel due to tree and hedge planting which softens the appearance of the area. It was designated in 1989 and extended in 1994.
