Building Regulation Application charges

New Building Control charges will come into effect on 1 April 2020 for Buckinghamshire Council, these are set out below.

Standard charges will apply for domestic work. The charges stated below are VAT inclusive.

The types of charges are as follows:

  • All building notice charges are paid on submission
  • full plans building regulation application consists of a plan charge and an inspection charge:
    • The plan charge is payable when you submit the application. This covers the plan checking of the proposed work. A building control plan fee is different from a planning application plan charge. Please ensure you contact the correct department when paying your fee.
    • In most cases, an inspection charge is payable after the work commences. This covers the site inspections including the issue of a completion certificate. This is invoiced after the first inspection has been carried out. The inspection charge can also be paid with the plan charge when you submit the application, and where possible we will encourage this.

Please note that the charges for building notice are higher than full plan charges.

If your work falls under more than one table, each charge is payable on submission. Any reduction that applies because the different parts of work are carried out at the same time will be applied to the inspection fee after commencement of the work.

Please contact us for a quotation if your work:

  • Does not fall into the standard charges tables
  • Falls under three or more categories
  • See the additional information section for more information on when you need a quotation.

If you need a quotation or help with the standard charges, please contact planning and building control.

These will take up to two working days to produce; however, we will process most quotations on the same day.
