Saving energy in your home
Fully insulating your home can help to stop around 40 per cent of the heat from escaping through walls and the roof, saving you money as well as energy.
Insulating your home will help it stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It can be inexpensive and you may be eligible for assistance.

Local authority flexible eligibility for energy company obligation
The Local Authority Flexible Eligibility scheme is a new Government initiative which enables local authorities set their own criteria for low income or fuel poor households to access energy company grants towards insulation and heating improvements.
We intend that residents who are on a low income and:
- have a long term health condition or
- are aged over 60 or
- live in an EPC F or G banded property or
- are eligible for other schemes operated by the Affordable Warmth Network
will be eligible for energy company obligation help to heat funding. Our statement of intent gives further information. Local authority flexible eligibility statement of intent [PDF | 152KB]
Please note that being eligible for the scheme does not guarantee that heating or insulation measures will be installed, or that measures can be installed free of charge.
If you think you may be eligible, contact Better Housing Better Health.
