Animal welfare

Animal welfare legislation in the Wycombe district is enforced jointly by us and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), in association with other government bodies and independent organisations, such as the RSPCA.

See Animal licences for information about our licensing role for the following premises:

  • Boarding dog kennels and catteries
  • Pet shops selling animals
  • Dog breeders breeding five or more litters in a year
  • Riding schools
  • Keepers of dangerous wild animals

See Dog wardens for information about our role responding to reports and concerns about stray and lost dogs.
