Why do we need CCTV?

The main aims of CCTV are:

  • maintain crime prevention and reduction in evidence gathering
  • maintain contribution to community safety/public reassurance
  • security of property and facilities including our car parks and the our reception area.

If CCTV operators notice an incident, they can inform the police and direct them to it. CCTV footage can also be used as evidence following an arrest.

What does the CCTV control room do?

  • 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (recording)
  • Monitors all surveillance cameras (including automatic number plate recognition cameras) across the Wycombe area and provides monitoring for Chiltern, Beaconsfield Town Council and viewing facility from the local shopping centre
  • Monitors Wycombe and Marlow Watch radio for sharing information about retail and licensed premises crime
  • Control access to the High Street area

The latest CCTV report can be downloaded below. This contains the location of CCTV cameras in the Wycombe area.

Our network has achieved Gold accreditation from the national CCTV User Group and have also held the BSI EN ISO 9001 accreditation since 2004.
