Consultation: Bellfield Road development proposal

  • This consultation is now closed

Summary

We want your views on proposals to potentially build a block of 62 affordable apartments, low-cost workshops and associated car parking on a former factory car park in Bellfield Road, High Wycombe.

Purpose and detail

Wycombe District Council acquired the land in Bellfield Road in 2009 which was initially a temporary supermarket while Sainsbury’s was redeveloped. The land is currently being temporarily let for the storage of commercial vehicles.

The our draft Local Plan sets out the long term future for the district identifying where new homes, jobs and infrastructure will be created and how we will protect our countryside.

The site is currently earmarked for employment use and as part of the proposal the council intends to construct low cost industrial buildings to assist local start-up companies requiring large space to grow their businesses.

Given the need for affordable housing and the site’s proximity to the town centre and associated transport links and amenities, the site is deemed to be suitable for housing.

This public engagement focuses on the site at Bellfield Road in High Wycombe which is owned by Wycombe District Council.

As landowner, the council is bringing forward development proposals to provide serviced plots for the construction of about 125 homes and a hilltop park on the land.

The proposals will be subject to the usual planning process, of which this consultation forms part.

The following boards will be shown at the consultation exhibitions and form the basis of the consultation.
