Consultation: Abbey Barn North Development Brief Supplementary Planning Document
Our public consultation on the proposed development brief for the Abbey Barn North site ran from 20 November to 17 December 2019.
The development brief supplements Policy HW4: Abbey Barn North of the Wycombe District Local Plan (adopted in August 2019). It sets out the guiding principles of how the site could be developed in the future to provide new, high-quality housing.
Once finalised, the guidance set out in the development brief will help to shape a detailed planning application.
Purpose and detail
We decided to release the Abbey Barn North reserve site for development in late 2014. We took this decision to help meet Wycombe district's housing shortfall.
A liaison group of local councillors and local community representatives has helped us set out the guiding principles that will govern how the site will be developed. These principles are set out in both Policy HW4 of the Wycombe District Local Plan and also in this draft development brief.
We asked for your comments on the draft development brief to assist us in shaping and finalising this document.
The development brief identifies a series of development principles for the site and sets out guidelines for future development, illustrating the type and location of buildings with artist’s impressions and the scale and character of some of the defined open spaces.

We will use the responses to refine and improve the development brief. Our responses to any comments received will be set out in the statement of consultation report, which will accompany the adopted SPD. The finalised document and accompanying statement of consultation will be considered by Cabinet in the winter of 2019/20.
Once agreed, the development brief will be a supplementary planning document (SPD). This SPD will form the basis for a separate developer led planning application for the development of the Abbey Barn North site. That application will follow the standard planning application process.
