Living and working in Wycombe
Halfway between London and Oxford, we’re an area of contrasts. We’re a well-connected place, located in the south east of England, with direct access to the motorway network, fast rail links to London and Birmingham and proximity to Heathrow airport. Outstanding countryside, three quarters of it designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, is the backdrop to thriving towns. Culturally diverse, we’re enriched by many different communities adding to the fabric of our local society.
High Wycombe, as the largest urban town centre, hosts the popular Wycombe Swan theatre and Eden shopping centre, as well as many other leisure and entertainment options. The vibrant market towns of Marlow on the River Thames and Princes Risborough bordering the Chiltern Hills are also fantastic places to browse among the shops and stop for something to eat or drink. Quintessential English villages and hamlets, each with a charm and character of their own, can be found in between the three larger towns in the Wycombe area.
The education and learning provision within the area is excellent. A state education service where pupils regularly achieve well above the national average at all levels is complemented by esteemed further and higher education establishments and a highly regarded university.
The Wycombe area is an excellent place for existing businesses to prosper, endorsed by major companies who have their headquarters here. Historically the area was the centre of Britain's furniture industry. While that continues today, other employment sectors have since emerged and grown and the district is one of the most entrepreneurial places in the country.
The Wycombe area has much to offer and is a fantastic place to live, work, visit and explore.
