Overnight road closures planned in High Wycombe

As part of the work for the alternative route, a number of overnight road closures will be in place for during the week starting 1 April. This is so that the contractors can excavate the carriageway and surface up to binder level, ahead of the final surfacing at the end of the project. To minimise the impact on traffic, overnight road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am each night. Appropriate diversion routes will be in operation.

Overnight road closures will be in place on Queen Victoria Road, Queen Victoria Road / High Street / Crendon Street / Easton Street junction, Easton Street and Abbey Way (eastbound lanes)

Queen Victoria Road closure

Monday 1 April (8pm) to Tuesday 2 April (6am)

Motorists travelling eastbound towards London Road are encouraged to use Abbey Way. However, those wishing to access Crendon Street / Amersham Hill and Easton Street are advised to follow the suggested diversion route.

Access to and from Wycombe District Council Car Park will be prohibited during this time. Access for Royal Mail service vehicles and Thames Valley Police will remain in place.

 

Queen Victoria Road / Easton Street / High Street / Crendon Street Junction closure

Tuesday 2 April (8pm) to Wednesday 3 April (6am)

Motorists are advised: •when travelling eastbound towards London Road use Abbey Way. However, •that access Crendon Street / Amersham Hill and Easton Street follow the suggested diversion route

 

Easton Street closure

Wednesday 3 April (8pm) to Thursday 4 April (6am) Thursday 4 April (8pm) to Friday 5 April (6am)

Motorists travelling:

  • eastbound towards London Road use Abbey Way
  • from Amersham Hill use Totteridge Road / Bowerdean Road and Gordon Road as a diversion
  • towards West Wycombe from the top of Amersham Hill use Hamilton Road as a diversion

We ask that motorists vacate Easton Street Multi Storey Car Park and the Wycombe District Council Car Park adjacent to the Magistrates Court by 8pm. You will not be able to exit the car park after this time.

Alternatively, please use other car parks in the town centre including Wycombe Swan, Railway Place or Dovecot.

Abbey Way at Easton Street Junction (eastbound only) closure

Friday 5 April (8pm) to Saturday 6 April (6am)

This overnight closure will be used to excavate the existing carriageway, and fully resurface to the finished outcome. Permanent lining will be implemented in May.

Motorists travelling from:

  • Abbey Way gyratory are asked to use Queen Victoria Road and Easton Street as a diversion
  • Amersham Hill and Easton Street are asked to divert eastbound via A40 London Road and U-turn at Gordon Road roundabout

 

Abbey Way (eastbound) closure

Saturday 6 April (8pm) to Sunday 7 April (6am)

This overnight closure will be used to excavate the existing carriageway, and fully resurface to the finished outcome. Permanent lining will be implemented in May.

Motorists travelling from:

  • Abbey Way gyratory are asked to use Queen Victoria Road and Easton Street as a diversion
  • Amersham Hill and Easton Street as asked to divert eastbound via A40 London Road and U-turn at Gordon Road roundabout
  • A40 London Road, there will be no diversion route for westbound traffic, but will be diverted onto the eastbound carriageway for a short distance

Further overnight road closures will be required in early May.
