Flying the flag
Wycombe District Council has joined thousands of organisations up and down the country in raising the Armed Forces Flag outside its building on Queen Victoria Road in High Wycombe. The flag raising ceremony marked the start of Armed Forces Week. Local representatives of all our three armed forces – navy, army and air force attended. The flag will fly outside the council offices all this week and come down after Armed Forces Day on Saturday.
Past, present and future were represented with cadets, serving members of the armed forces and veterans all coming together for the ceremony. Chairman Cllr Paul Turner was joined by Station Commander Shaun Harris and Station Warrant Officer Emma Kerslake from RAF High Wycombe. A bugler from TS Jaguar (sea cadets) was on parade with standard bearers from the Royal British Legion and representatives from the Royal Regiment of Artillery. Stuart Reid, the Secretary of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, raised the flag.
