Free activity taster classes for over-50s
Residents aged 50 and over are invited to try out a taster class from a great selection of activities at Wycombe Leisure Centre on Monday 1 October from 10am to 2pm.
Get Active at Any Age is a Wycombe District Council and Places Leisure initiative to encourage older people to take up a physical activity they enjoy.
The date is no coincidence – Monday is National Older People’s Day.
Participants who book in advance on 01494 688100 will be able to choose from the following taster classes:
- walking netball
- walking football
- supple strength
- keep fit
- tai chi
- group cycling
People can also drop in any time between 10am and 2pm to try their hand at:
- short tennis
- table tennis
- rock climbing
A range of health experts will be in the foyer to discuss health and fitness levels and any concerns about becoming more active.
Cllr Graham Peart, Cabinet Member for Community, said: “When it comes to fitness as we age, it is very much a case of ‘use it or lose it’. We really want to encourage as many older people as possible to keep fit and mobile.
“If you are 50 or older, do come along. This is a great opportunity to try out a new activity and get advice from the experts.”
