New tenants for Handy X Hub

HXH nursery and children's gymnasium 24 Sept 2018 front and side aspect
Building is nearing completion on two brand new businesses at Wycombe District Council’s flagship Handy Cross Hub (HxH) scheme – a premium day nursery plus a combined child development and gymnastics centre.

In the latest step forward, both of the new tenants, Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries Ltd and The Little Gym Handy Cross, have now signed up.

The strikingly designed and purpose-built building is at the entrance to the HxH spine road.

The ground floor will be home to Hungry Caterpillar’s 11th day nursery, following their successful Chalfont St Peter nursery which opened in 2017. The first floor will house the UK’s 12th The Little Gym location for families and children, following the team’s successful The Little Gym Windsor opening in November 2017.

Building is expected to be completed late September to enable the fit-out in time for the January 2019 school term.

Cllr Steve Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “HxH continues to prove a huge success for High Wycombe, with a popular Waitrose, a superb purpose-built leisure centre, park and ride facilities and more plans unfolding, all in a convenient location.

“We are working hard to ensure we are meeting the varied needs of people who live and work here. Attendance figures at the leisure centre have risen by 46% compared to the last year of the old sports centre, and now the new day nursery plus the child development and gymnastics centre will be a huge boost for parents looking for quality child care and sophisticated opportunities to boost their children’s development while getting them fit and healthy.”

Olivia Foley, founder and Director of Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries, said: “We are so excited to be opening our newest nursery in the heart of this exciting development. The location is great for families working in Wycombe, travelling on the M40 or into Marlow, the surrounding areas and those working in or around the Hub.

“The day nursery will provide premium nursery care and education for children from three months to five years with carefully planned, inspiring learning environments and fantastic outdoor space.

“We have already had so much interest for places and feel sure it will be a popular choice for local families.”

Matina Macintyre, founder and co-owner, The Little Gym Handy Cross, said: “Gymnastics that is good for a child’s soul, not just their bodies – that is our mission at The Little Gym Handy Cross. Our non-competitive classes combine child development and gymnastics to help children build a foundation of intellectual, physical, social and emotional skills that will last a lifetime – crucial in today’s changing world.

“We know that children learn best when they are having fun, and we can’t wait to hear Handy Cross full of children’s happy laughter as they giggle and grow in The Little Gym.”
