Why I love my job: recycling and waste
By Callum and Beth, Waste Team Project Officers
We both work as project officers for the Joint Waste Team, which covers the Chiltern, Wycombe and South Bucks districts.
One of our on-going objectives is helping residents understand their recycling service and managing projects to help improve recycling throughout the districts. Be it schools, community groups or market days, a big part of our role is getting out into the community to dispel recycling myths and answers any questions residents may have about the service.

Recently we sent out waste collection calendars and recycling guides to residents across the districts, making it easier for them to keep track of waste and recycling collections. We're pleased to say that residents reacted very positively to the insert promoting the Greatmoor Energy from Waste project. The leaflet explained how the plant turns residents' waste into energy and as a result Greatmoor saw a huge increase in bookings for its free tour, which is great to hear.
In this job it goes without saying that we care about the environment, so earlier this year we joined 370,000 other #LitterHeroes to collect litter across the UK and take a stand against single-use plastic. In the Joint Waste Team we provided support for volunteer groups across the district, loaning out litter pickers, providing rubbish sacks and picking up the collected rubbish at agreed locations. Of course, we did some litter picking ourselves too...
This December we'll be over at Marlow's traditional late-night Christmas market offering information and advice on waste and recycling services, so why not stop by and say hello?
You'll even be in with a chance of nabbing some recycling goodies!
