House of Fraser closure comment

Following today's announcement by House of Fraser that they are planning to close 31 of their 59 stores across the country, Cllr Steve Broadbent, Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration said:

“We are extremely disappointed to hear that House of Fraser is likely to be leaving High Wycombe after ten years. We understand that, if agreed later this month, it will be one of 31 store closures across the UK, reflecting the wider pressures on traditional retailers. At the moment, we don’t have any further details about when the closure in High Wycombe will happen other than their public commitment to trade until early 2019. There will be opportunities for the space and we will be continuing positive discussions with Eden about attracting a new tenant or tenants should the closure be confirmed.”
