New Midsomer discovery trail launches

A new local discovery trail based on locations used in the popular TV detective series Midsomer Murders in and around Marlow has just been launched. The 17-mile (27km) trail starts in Marlow and winds its way through some beautiful countryside and great locations including Frieth, Lane End, Fingest and Hambleden.

Along the way are some great places to stop and enjoy food and drink from local independent businesses like Laceys Farm (Lane End) and Chiltern Valley Winery (Hambleden).

The trail has been put together with funding from Wycombe District Council and support from Visit Buckinghamshire to encourage visitors and local people to explore the delights of our local area and discover some hidden gems.

Cllr Graham Peart, Cabinet Member for Community, said: “The new Midsomer trail is really fun to do and even though I know our district really well, it helped me to discover some new hidden gems. I can thoroughly recommend it as a great day out to do with family, friends or visitors.

“Tourism initiatives like this not only add to the ‘feel good’ factor of a place, but also play an important part in supporting local businesses by bringing new customers.

“There are some great suggestions for places to stop and take in views and to enjoy some great food and drink as well as pick up some amazing local produce created by talented people in local businesses. It’s just one way we are working to enhance people’s experience of our local area and to support local enterprise and entrepreneurs.”
