Building work to begin on new community space in High Wycombe

2018 sketch design of community space at QE2 off Shelley Road

Groundworks for a new community room at the playing fields off Shelley Road in High Wycombe start today, Monday 8 January.

The new single storey modular building, which is the outcome of a consultation with local residents in 2015, will complement the existing pavilion changing rooms. It is being built using off-site manufactured (OSM) construction methods in three sections and will be craned into place later this month. Once completed, Wycombe District Council will hand over the keys to Poets Corner Residents Association to manage the room and all of the bookings.

Throughout the works, access to the changing rooms, play area, football pitches and all pedestrian access points will be maintained.

Cllr Graham Peart, Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community, commented: “I’m excited that work is starting on this new facility, which will ultimately be used by residents and run by a community group. I’ll certainly be on site to watch the pieces being craned into place later this month!”

The new community room is being funded by CIL funds allocated by High Wycombe Town Committee. Building works are being carried out by Integra Buildings Ltd and the approved planning application can be viewed online
