£1.2million extension for Risborough Springs Swim and Fitness Centre to go ahead

A £1.2million extension to Risborough Springs Swim and Fitness Centre will get underway this year, providing new fitness and leisure facilities to Princes Risborough residents.

While designs for the centre have not yet been finalised, the extension will include an enlarged gym and dedicated fitness studio. Currently any studio based classes have to take place in the nearby community centre.  Subject to Council agreement on 22 February, the intention is to partner with current centre operator, Places for People Leisure, to design and build the extended facilities, with the aim of keeping disruption for current users to a minimum.

Cllr Graham Peart, Wycombe District Council's Cabinet Member for Community, said: "We’re investing in Risborough Springs Swim and Fitness Centre to provide new and improved leisure facilities for people who live in and around Princes Risborough. We know that there is increasing demand, so this extension will provide much-needed new facilities and meet residents' requirements both now and in the future."

It’s anticipated that designs will be developed and a planning application submitted by summer, with works contracted in the autumn.
