Finalists named in 'Best in Wycombe District' business awards category

Three local businesses have made it to the finals of this year’s Buckinghamshire Business First Awards ‘Best in Wycombe District’ category.

The finalists in the category, which is sponsored by Wycombe District Council, are:

  • Hillclimb Garage. The judges were very impressed with the relationship between the Downley garage and the locality. The garage is also doing some innovative work to engage customers using techniques not usually expected from a garage.
  • Hypnos. The Princes Risborough-based business sells mattresses throughout the world. Its growth and reputation have been enhanced with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. Locally Hypnos is employing more apprentices and developing their skills so they can progress within the company. The judges were very impressed by the leadership and vision.
  • Seymour Taylor. The local accountancy practice celebrated its centenary in 2017. It was a year of major transformation for the business and in 2018 it is seeing the impact of its investment in staff training and development. The judges were very impressed by the way in which the Seymour Taylor values permeate all aspects of the business.

Hillclimb Garage is also a finalist in the ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ category.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre on Tuesday 22 May.

Cllr Steve Broadbent, who helped select the ‘Best in Wycombe District’ shortlist, said: “Wycombe District Council is delighted to sponsor this award as part of our ongoing efforts to support a vibrant economy.

“There are very many businesses in the district providing quality products and services, so selecting the top three was a challenging task. The judges were particularly looking at the impact on Wycombe along with other factors that made a company one of the best in the district. The decision was very hard, but I am heartened that we have so many excellent examples of business leadership in Wycombe.

“We have three outstanding businesses shortlisted and I want to say congratulations to Hillclimb, Hypnos and Seymour Taylor on making it to the finals.”
