New Hughenden Park play area opened

Hughenden Park play area opening
Schoolchildren and councillors enjoyed climbing, sliding and jumping around on the new forest-themed play area at Hughenden Park.

A year two class from Hamilton Academy were among the first children to try out the new equipment as they joined Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Cllr Graham Peart and ward members Cllr Khalil Ahmed and Cllr Maz Hussain to officially open the play area on Wednesday morning.

Hamilton Academy pupils were among the 350 children and a further 143 residents to tell the council what equipment they would like to see at the new-look park during a public consultation last year – with the children also selecting the forest theme.

Cllr Peart said: “The Hamilton Academy children had great fun and really enjoyed using the fantastic new equipment – almost as much as the councillors!

“The upgraded play area really is excellent and I’m sure many families will enjoy bringing their children to Hughenden Park to use it for many years to come.”

The council released £168,000 from its Facilities for Young People Capital Fund to pay for the refurbishment, part of a rolling play area replacement programme.
