Blue-green algae at The Rye
The Environment Agency has informed us of possible blue-green algae in The Dyke on The Rye.
Tests by the Environment Agency are ongoing and we hope to have the results by the end of the week.
In the meantime, as a precaution, visitors to The Rye are urged to avoid contact with the water and dog owners are urged to prevent their pets from swimming in The Dyke. Boating on The Dyke has been suspended.
The Environment Agency has advised that should anyone come in to contact with the water they should wash it off immediately and seek medical advice if they become unwell.
