Modernising Local Government update 13 April

You will no doubt be aware that contrary to published expectations there was no announcement from the Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government about a reorganisation of local government in Buckinghamshire in March.

While we are disappointed that the Minister has not yet announced his support for our proposals, we remain hopeful that if a decision is announced after the county council elections, it will indicate support for the two unitary option.

In the meantime we are keen to ensure that we do not lose momentum in taking forward some of the ideas in our proposals and are engaging again with our key stakeholders/partners.

The county council, which is supporting a single unitary council proposal, is asking residents, businesses and other organisations to have their say through a short engagement questionnaire, a telephone survey and a series of face to face group discussions.

They say that the feedback will be provided to the government to help them consider the future of local council services in Buckinghamshire.

As people who live and work in Bucks, we encourage you to take part in this survey so you too can have your say on how local services will look.
