Wycombe is a district of fascinating contrasts, home to the green and rolling Chiltern Hills that so inspired John Betjeman and to the gently meandering historic River Thames. Officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Chilterns and Thames Valley, offer some of the most stunning countryside in England, within a stones throw of London.
Whether visiting the area for a day out, staying for a short break or business meeting, you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. The many picturesque villages, historic towns, country walks, together with cosy country pubs, bustling market towns and warm Chiltern hospitality make it a place that visitors will want to return to again and again.
Enjoy a day's sightseeing and shopping in unspoilt towns such as Marlow. Take time to explore our rich cultural and literary heritage and follow in the footsteps of writers such as John Milton, TS Elliot, Mary Shelley and Jerome K Jerome who have all taken inspiration from the area. Film makers and TV producers have also chosen the district as the ideal location for many classic movies and TV programmes including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Gosford Park and The Vicar of Dibley. Amongst other attractions in the district are the notorious Hellfire Caves at West Wycombe and the National Trust's Hughenden Manor, the home of the former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli.
Wycombe's transport links are exceptional, with the M40 motorway crossing the district and fast and efficient rail services linking stations in the capital and the Midlands to many of our major centres.
