Theatre in the Villages

Theatre in the Villages runs through autumn 2011 and programmes are now available in leisure centres, libraries and council offices. A copy is also available to download below.

Theatre in the Villages is a member of the National Rural Touring Forum and each year, it provides a wide choice of professional small productions that entertain audiences of all ages in village halls and community centres around Wycombe District. These popular touring professional productions can also be seen in community venues across Buckinghamshire. The scheme is financially supported by Wycombe District Council, Aylesbury Vale and South Bucks District Councils.

Some comments from audiences have included:

"Rare to see such an incredible talent in a village location"
"It was very well presented, professional in every way - a delight"
"Lovely to see neighbours we rarely see"

If you are involved in running a local community venue, and would like to have professional actors or musicians perform in your area next autumn you might like to see the Frequently Asked Questions below. For newcomers to the scheme, we subsidise performances if you can provide an appropriate venue, distribute local publicity, manage ticket sales and run the venue on the performance night.

One community centre told us: "We live in a very low income area and very poorly supported area. People have few things to look forward to do and see in the area. We have a very mixed area of age and ethnicity backgrounds - it is important to try and bring this people together and we are trying as a Community Centre to encourage more use of the community building to get local people together."

Theatre in the Villages can help you host a memorable evening event that brings your village or neighbourhood together.
