Desborough Avenue car park closure

29 June 2010

In order for the potential purchaser of this site to fulfil certain planning conditions, an archaeological investigation needs to be undertaken at Desborough Avenue car park.

This will involve the excavation of a minimum of 3 trenches to a depth of 2 metres and up to 8 metres in length. The contractor carrying out the work will put a temporary fence around the car park and will temporarily remove the height barrier to allow excavation plant on to the site. The car park will be fully reinstated and returned to use as soon as the work is complete.

To ensure the safety of the public the car park will be closed from Saturday 26 June, until the work is complete, by Monday 12 July.

Fliers have been distributed and notices have been erected to inform the public of the closure. Alternative council operated parking is available at Baker Street, George Street and East Richardson Street.
