High Wycombe market to hold golden balloon competition

01 June 2010

High Wycombe's market will be filled with 1,000 balloons on Friday 4 June, as part of its first ever "Golden Balloon" competition.

Throughout the day, 500 balloons will be handed out to every child whose parent or guardian makes a purchase from one of the market stalls. At 3pm these balloons can be exchanged for one of the 500 balloons that have remained tied to the stalls which could contain a "golden ticket". These tickets will be for free ice creams, soft drinks, fruit, England flags and other items that the traders have donated. One balloon will contain a ticket worth £50 and two for £25, which will be redeemable on any stall.

Gary Saunders, Director of market operators Saunders Management Services, commented: "High Wycombe market offers a really wide range of products, so the aim of the competition is to encourage people to take a closer look at the stalls in the High Street and find out more about what's on offer. I'm really looking forward to the balloon competition - I think it will be a great day, with a good atmosphere and lots of fun for everyone who takes part."

Saunders Management Services were appointed by Wycombe District Council in March to run the High Wycombe's historic market for the next four years.
