Energy kits launched in library

23 August 2010

Five energy saving kits, aimed at local residents who want to find out more about how much energy they are using in their homes, are now available to loan, free of charge from High Wycombe library.

The energy saving kits consist of an "Owl", a whole-home wireless electricity power monitor; a single appliance power meter; an easy to follow picture booklet that will demonstrate how the devices work; and a handy power sheet to record it all down on. The kit bags have been provided by local company SolaSave.

The project is the brainchild of local energy champions Transition Town High Wycombe and has been supported by the Wycombe Partnership. Following the launch of these energy saving kits in High Wycombe library, Buckinghamshire County Council will be introducing similar kits to its libraries across the Wycombe district.

Transition Town High Wycombe is part of the Transition Network. They are a voluntary community action group which focuses on building low-carbon, localised and resilient communities based upon the greater use of local trade, food and renewable energy.

The Wycombe Partnership is the local strategic partnership for the Wycombe district area. The Partnership brings together the local public, private, voluntary and community sectors. Their role is to ensure that the Wycombe district continues to develop economically, socially and environmentally.
