Enid Blyton’s garden in top 500

Old Thatch, Enid Blyton's former home has been chosen as one of the gardens for inclusion in a new book entitled "The Most Amazing Gardens in Britain & Ireland".
The book describes 500 of the "most magnificent and memorable gardens" and is published by Readers Digest. The Old Thatch garden, created by its owner Jacky Hawthorne over the last ten years has been chosen for its enchanting setting and vistas, innovative design, intriguing features, and exemplary plantings. The book includes the work of renowned designers such as 'Capability' Brown, Getrude Jeckyll, Tom-Stuart-Smith and Christopher Bradley-Hole".
Other local gardens in the new publication include Cliveden, Waltham Place, Waddeson Manor and Chenies Manor.
The prestigious recognition of Old Thatch as one of the finest gardens in the British Isles follows the award two years ago to Old Thatch of a star in the Daily Telegraph's Good Gardens Guide.
Old Thatch Gardens open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (2pm to 5.30pm) from May 12 to August 29, with unmissable home made cakes and teas. Entry is £4, children £1 (5-13 inc), under-5 free.
