Free smoke detectors at wellbeing event this Friday
07 July 2010
Local partners from a wide range of organisations and local services are coming together under one roof at an event at Wycombe Town Hall this Friday, 9 July between 10am and 3pm.
The event, aimed at the district's senior residents, will offer visitors free health checks, smoke detectors, refreshments and a raffle - it will be the biggest wellbeing event ever to be held within the district.
Visitors will also get a chance to join in a bingo session, watch performances from the "Fairgame Theatre" production company on distraction burglary and get advice and support from more than 20 statutory and voluntary services who work with older people across Wycombe district.
The event has been organised by Wycombe District Council and Thames Valley Police working in partnership to ensure older residents have access to health, policing and safety services.
Gemma Herbert, Crime Reduction Advisor, Wycombe Local Police Area, said: "In addition, there will be plenty of information on offer on reducing the risk of being a victim of crime; with community safety good bags on offer to all attendees"
Nearby parking is available in the public car parks in Easton Street or the Swan. Local bus services from across the district serve High Wycombe and nearby bus stops are in the High Street.
