Graffiti wiped out from Hazlemere and Princes Risborough

01 July 2010

Graffiti in Princes Risborough and Hazlemere has been wiped out today (Thursday 1 July), following a clean up operation organised by Wycombe District Council and Thames Valley Police's joint Public Safety Team.

The Public Safety Team received feedback from local residents and neighbourhood policing teams about areas in Princes Risborough and Hazlemere that had been targetted by graffitists. The team then commissioned a clean-up crew to go out on the streets for eight hours and remove the offending graffiti.

Residents have reported that the sooner graffiti is removed the better and the less likely it is to reappear.

In addition to arranging clean-up days, the Public Safety Team is offering free graffiti removal kits for community use. The kit includes a camera which users are advised to use to photograph the graffiti, before and after using the kit. Once a portfolio of pictures is built up, Wycombe District Council can work with the police to identify offenders.

Residents interested in using a graffiti removal kit, or wanting to report incidents of graffiti, can phone the Public Safety Team on 01494 421 807 or email asb@wycombe.gov.uk.
