Micklefield and Marsh awarded community lottery funding

27 July 2010

The Big Lottery Fund has announced today (Tuesday 27 July) that the Micklefield and Marsh community in High Wycombe is set to benefit from at least £1million of funding over the next ten years.

Micklefield and Marsh is one of 50 small areas in England that has been identified by the Big Lottery Fund to receive at least £1million in the first wave of their Big Local Trust funding programme. Big Local Trust funding will be given out via a new charitable trust that will work closely with local people in the community to decide how best to use the funding over a period of about ten years.

Behind the scenes, Wycombe District Council and the Wycombe Partnership worked with the Big Lottery Fund to submit an application that highlighted communities in the Wycombe district that could benefit from this funding. On today's announcement by The Big Lottery Fund to award at least £1million to Micklefield and Marsh community, Cllr Lesley Clarke - Leader of Wycombe District Council and Chairman of the Wycombe Partnership - commented: "The aim of the funding programme is to help people to meet their own needs and make their communities better places to live in, now and in the future. With that in mind, we are absolutely thrilled that the people of Micklefield and Marsh will be receiving this funding and will be able to determine how it should be used so that it has the maximum, positive impact for their community in the years to come."

The Big Lottery Fund has said that it will take up to 15 months to set up the Trust that will award funding. They hope that funding will be awarded from autumn 2011. Find out more about the Big Lottery Fund and how to apply to be a part of the Big Local Trust on their website.
