Planning application submitted for Handy Cross site redevelopment

Monday 11 June 2012

Wycombe District Council has submitted an outline planning application for the redevelopment of the Wycombe Sports Centre site at Handy Cross, High Wycombe.

The application, which is an update to a previously permitted scheme, includes outline details for a new sports and leisure centre, foodstore and medicentre/day nursery, along with a reconfiguration of the consented 3,300square metres of new offices, a coachway park and ride and 150 bed hotel. The overall redevelopment scheme will be branded as "Handy X Hub - eat well, exercise well, work well", to position it competitively in the market place.

Cllr Arif Hussain, Wycombe District Council's Executive Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Property Services, commented: "The revised outline masterplan application is the next step towards redeveloping this site and providing the district with a new sports and leisure centre. The new business development will attract top class employers and create new jobs for local people. We thank the public and sports clubs who have attended our exhibitions and discussed their ideas with us, as their comments have helped to shape these plans."

The submitted plans are now available to view at the our offices or using our PublicAcess for Planning pages and searching with the reference 12/06261/R4OUT.
