Changes to car parking as district welcomes Lidl to High Wycombe

06 October 2010

The council have completed the sale of land, enabling the first Lidl supermarket to be built in the Wycombe district. Their brand new store will be located on West Richardson Street at the bottom of Desborough Avenue.

As a result of the development, there will be changes to local car parking provision with Desborough Avenue car park no longer being operated as a council car park from Thursday 14 October 2010.

When completed, the new store will provide customer parking. Long and short stay spaces will continue to be provided at nearby existing car parks operated by Wycombe District Council at Desborough Street, Baker Street, George Street and East Richardson Street.

Councillor Roger Colomb, Wycombe District Council's Cabinet Member for Property Services and Procurement, commented: "Lidl is a leader in its market and will be a valuable addition to the range of retailers now located in High Wycombe, further improving the town."

A leaflet will be going out to local residents and businesses giving details of alternative car parking. Further information can be found on our car parks page
