Thumbs up for Marlow playground
09 March 2010
Young people in Marlow can now enjoy a unique, new play area experience, as Tuesday 9 March saw the official unveiling of the newly built play area, at Seymour Court Recreation Ground. School children from Holy Trinity and Sandy Gate Schools who tested out the new playground gave it a big thumbs up.
Work on the play area started in October 2009 and was completed on February 2010. The new area boasts a large climbing tower, a popular nest swing with an all ability roundabout with wheelchair access, and a number of landscaping features including round grass mounds, balance beams and bark as the surface material.
Throughout the development process Marlow Town Council consulted with residents and schools in the local area and worked closely with Wycombe District Council, who tendered the project, to create a play facility suitable for the 8 -13 age group.
Wycombe District Council funded the development of Seymour Court and additional play facility projects thanks to the Department of Children, Schools and Families allocating funding to a number of schemes in Buckinghamshire through Bucks County Council.
Safe and Sound Playgrounds were chosen to install the play area as they demonstrated imaginative ideas and creative use of the space.
Wycombe District Council worked together with Safe and Sound Playgrounds, Marlow Town Council, DCSF, Play England and Bucks County Council to make the development a success.
