Year three student wins the scooper-duper prize
04 March 2010
Scooperman, Wycombe District Council's doggy-doo fighting superhero, swooped into Curzon C of E Combined School's assembly on Wednesday to present first, second and third prizes to three talented pupils for their entries in the "Scoop the poop" competition.
Wycombe District Council's dog warden, a representative from the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and a special doggy friend also paid a visit, giving a short talk about the importance of picking up after your dog, micro-chipping your pets and training your dog. Pupils then had the chance to ask the special guests questions.
Elliot Klyne, the winning artist, received £30 worth of vouchers and a Hearing Dogs for Deaf People goody-bag for his masterpiece which will be used to front next year's "Scoop the poop" competition. Wycombe District Council judges said that Elliot's design demonstrated original thought with an innovative rhyme:
"Your dog's made some mess
The annoying little pest!
Just take your scoop,
And clear away the poop!"
Emma Cross and Megan Cave who won second and third prize for their creative and colourful poster designs also received a Hearing Dogs for Deaf People goody-bag each. Wycombe District Council would like to say a big thank you to all pupils for entering the competition; council officers enjoyed looking at all the entries.
During the summer Scooperman, Wycombe District Council's doggy-doo fighting superhero, invited school children in year three to design a poster to promote the "Grab it! Bag It! Bin It" message, urging dog owners to clean up after their pets. Entries received were put on display in Wycombe District Council's offices.
