New governance arrangements

At the Council meeting on 5 July 2010, the relative advantages and disadvantages of the elected mayor and cabinet, and "strong" leader and cabinet models of executive arrangements were considered. Council resolved that it was minded to continue to operate under a strong leader and cabinet model, but with the leader elected on a four-year term as required by Section 67 of the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 .
