Hands-on discovery sessions

Our sessions, which are aimed at key stages 1 and 2, last two hours and comprise workshop led activities and exploration of the Museum's galleries. They are an ideal way to introduce a topic or reinforce class work and provide an interactive and memorable experience.

Our sessions aim to:

  • stimulate active learning with real objects
  • offer elements of role play and dressing up
  • meet the needs of the creative curriculum
  • encourage pupils to develop their critical thinking and enquiry skills
  • provide elements of make and take
  • challenge and motivate staff as well as pupils
  • offer a reliable and flexible visit experience

Key stage 1 sessions:

  • Home sweet home
  • Let's play

Key stage 2 sessions:

  • Take a seat
  • Bodgers and Bottomers: chair-making in Wycombe
  • Life in Roman Britain
  • Take cover
  • Victorian washday

Please note that the Woodland Service uses the Museum's garden to deliver animal, habitats and life cycles sessions for key stage 1 and 2.
