Arts Development
WDC Arts Development supports arts, culture and creativity in the local community by:
- attracting investment into the district, creating opportunities for artists, communities and small creative industries
- helping local arts organisations to improve their business and attract new audiences/ customers
- grant aiding festivals, arts projects and events which attract local audiences and participants as well as and visitors to the district
- helping communities to feel safer and more attractive through a variety of cultural activities
- encouraging creative activities that bring communities together
- helping preserve the heritage of Wycombe for future generations
- working with partners across Buckinghamshire to increase arts provision in Wycombe District
- commenting on local funding applications made to Arts Council England.
We support, in a range of ways, the rich variety of arts and cultural organisations in the District including:
- local festivals such as Wycombe Arts Festival, Wooburn Festival, Speen Festival, High Wycombe Piano Festival, Wycombe Community Festival
- Bucks Open Studios
- Arts4every1 Centre for Arts, Creativity and Enterprise in High Wycombe
- Garsington Opera
- Wycombe Swan Theatre and Town Hall
- rural touring scheme Theatre in the Villages
- public art and improvements to public spaces
We also work with local Further and Higher Education providers to develop opportunities for the community.
We are a partner in Creative Bucks, which runs innovative projects across the county with support from Arts Council England, other Buckinghamshire local authorities and regional agencies.
Arts grants
Grants are available to local arts organisations and individuals (for arts training purposes). More about arts grants.
Wycombe Swan Community Fund
Grants are available to voluntary groups to help with the hire costs of the Swan Theatre, Town Hall or Oak Room.
