Energy efficiency grants

Fully insulating your home can help to stop around 40 per cent of the heat from escaping through walls and the roof. This can save you money and energy. Insulating your home will help it stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It can be inexpensive and you may be eligible for assistance.

Wycombe district Home Insulation Grant

Local residents who own their homes or rent privately can get cavity wall and loft insulation installed for £99 each thanks to additional funding from us. Applying for the grant on-line is quick and easy. Simply follow the external link below. The Cocoon service manages the grant on our behalf.

Cocoon your home

Cocoon is an independent comparison service operated by United Sustainable Energy Agency, a not-for-profit organisation. The service aims to help homeowners find the best insulation deals for professionally installed cavity wall and loft insulation including grants.

If you are aged 70 or over or receive certain benefits, and own or rent your home, you may be eligible for free insulation. For more information on how the Cocoon can put you in touch with an installer of your choice for a free no-obligation survey of your home, see their website below or call 0800 80 48 777.

Affordable warmth

We provide a dedicated affordable warmth service to advise residents how to keep warm over winter whilst keeping their bills down.

To help make your home more affordable to heat, please call the Affordable Warmth helpline on 0800 107 00 44 (lines are open 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday) for free and impartial advice on:

  • Grants/loans for home improvements
  • Loft and cavity wall insulation
  • Switching to a lower cost energy supplier
  • Social tariffs (special rates for vulnerable residents)
  • How to deal with unpaid fuel bills
  • Claiming the benefits you are entitled to
  • Support organisations in our area
  • Energy efficiency to keep bills down

The first step to reducing heating bills is to stop warmth escaping. Insulation helps keep heat you pay for where you want it - in your home. If you are aged 70 or over or receive means tested benefits, cavity wall insulation is very likely to be free. Loft insulation is also free if you have less than 60mm already in place*.

*If your property is larger than average for the number of bedrooms or access is difficult or extra vents are required, you may be asked to make a contribution.

Warm Front

Warm Front provides grants to make your home warmer, healthier and more energy efficient. If the heating in your home is broken or if the property is draughty and poorly insulated a grant can help and may cover:

  • Loft insulation
  • Draught-proofing
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Energy efficient light-bulbs
  • Central heating (gas, electric or oil)

Warm Front grants are available for people who receive certain types of benefit and own or rent their home. Grants are up to £3,500.

Energy performance certificates (EPCs)

From 1 October 2008 landlords are required to provide an energy performance certificate when they rent out a home. An energy performance certificate gives information on the energy efficiency of a property you want to rent.
