Housing options
The following housing options are available to local residents.
Housing register
We use a choice based lettings scheme to allocate vacant social housing within the Wycombe area. The scheme is called Bucks Home Choice. If you are a housing applicant or an existing tenant wanting to transfer, you can use Bucks Home Choice to look for a new home.
Please note: If you wish to make an application, please click on the "Buck's Home Choice" link at the bottom of the page
Mutual exchanges
If you are a social housing tenant in rented property and would like to move, you may be able to swap your house or flat with another tenant. This is called a mutual exchange.
Use the HomeSwapper website to find a mutual exchange using the link below.
Low cost ownership
HomeBuy (see link below) is a Government driven initiative that helps eligible individuals and families find homes that meet their current needs. The Government has appointed a number of HomeBuy Agents throughout England to help those who are seeking to live in specific areas. For many people, this program will provide the best chance of owning a home in the area in which they want to live and work.
Private rented accommodation
Private sector renting
We can offer you advice in seeking a suitable and affordable property in the private sector. For further information see our Private housing page.
Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme
In order to help you find private rented accommodation, assistance can be offered to some households in securing private rented accommodation by providing a deposit. The contact names are Phil Thomas and Tracey Nisbett and the contact number is 01494 528 557.
Housing benefit
If you are on a low income, you may be entitled to Housing Benefit to help you pay the rent. For further information, please see our benefits pages.
Homelessness and prevention
A homeless application is an emergency measure and should only be a last resort. Therefore it is important that you do everything you can to try to either prevent the loss of your current accommodation or to find alternative private rented accommodation.
- In most cases we will only provide advice rather that find you a home
- In some instances we will help you to find a home with a private landlord
- For those that are homeless or threatened with homelessness; in priority need and eligible, we may provide short term temporary accommodation until suitable alternative accommodation is found.
For further information please see our housing options and advice page or contact our housing options team on the details on the right hand side.
