Recycling services for flats and schools

This page provides information on waste and recycling for residents living in flats and who have access to communal waste and recycling facilities.

This page provides you with information on different recycling services available, as well as the refuse collection service you receive.

Recycling services for flats and schools

We operate two separate recycling services. Both the blue bin scheme and the red bin scheme are available for flats and schools within the Wycombe district.

Collections are made every two weeks by our contractor. They will collect bins from the designated bin store area, empty the contents and return bins to the bin store.

All we ask is that you deposit the correct materials into the appropriate bin. Openings are located in the bin lids to allow materials to be posted through.

For more information on each of these services please see the details below.

Blue bin scheme

Blue bulk bins for paper recycling

The Blue Bin is for all of your paper and cardboard. We accept the following materials:

  • newspapers and magazines
  • junk mail and envelopes
  • telephone directories and catalogues
  • cardboard packaging and cardboard boxes
  • old files and damaged books
  • greeting cards and wrapping paper
  • toilet and kitchen roll tubes

Please ensure that only the materials described above are deposited into the blue recycling bin.

Red bin scheme

Red bulk bins for plastic and food tin recycling

The Red Bin is for all of your plastic bottles, food tins and drink cans. We accept the following materials:

All plastic bottles including;

  • squash, fizzy drink and plastic water bottles
  • plastic milk bottles
  • detergent and cleaning product plastic bottles
  • shampoo and toiletry plastic bottles
  • all food tins and drink cans including pet food tins

Please clean your empty materials. Rinse them in your used dish water, to remove any food or fluid residue.

Please ensure that only the materials described above are deposited into the red recycling bin. Please note that we do not accept glass.

Recycling all of these materials greatly reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill. Having these facilities on the doorstep makes recycling your waste even easier.

In addition to the materials described above you can recycle even more at your local recycling centre.

Materials such as glass bottles and jars, textiles and foil are accepted at most of our recycling centres. Please visit My Wycombe to find your nearest recycling centre and the materials accepted there.

Waste collection service

Black bulk bin for flats

For flats we provide a weekly refuse collection service.

Our contractor will collect bins, empty the contents and return the bin to the bin store area.

We ask that you contain your waste in a plastic bag or liner, before placing it carefully into the large refuse container located in the bin store area. The refuse bin is normally black in colour. Some older bins are green.

Please ensure that the bin stores are kept clean and accessible at all times. Our contractor is not responsible for removing waste dumped on the floor of your bin store.

Schools should contact the waste and recycling team for more details on our chargeable refuse collection service. Please find our telephone number and email address at the top of this page.
