Recycling statistics
Your efforts to separate your recyclable waste from your rubbish and present it for collection has had a dramatic effect on the amount of waste we now recycle in your district.
The graph below shows that nine years ago we recycled about 11% of your household waste.
Since then we have worked hard to increase the number of recycling collections available to you.
Your efforts to use these new services means as a community, residents in Wycombe district recycle 44% of the waste they present for collection per year.

The contribution of kerbside recycling collections
Some people may think that the weight of the material placed in individual recycling boxes at their house is insignificant.
There are about 68,000 homes in Wycombe district and when you multiply any amount collected from one individual property by that number of households, the total result is highly significant.
In the 6 month period of April 09 to September 09 here's what we collected from you as a community from each recycling container:
- 8,600 tonnes of organic waste composted
- 3,900 tonnes of paper and card collected
- 520 tonnes of cans and plastics collected
What about the recycling bank sites?
We collected 2,500 tonnes of material from the bring banks in the same 6 month period.
The net result is that over 45% of everything you gave to us in this six month period we were able to recycle.
