Flytipping
We are responsible for removing rubbish dumped on public land. We aim to do this as quickly as possible, but this depends on the location, amount and type of rubbish dumped.
Flytipping - it's a crime
Flytipping is illegal. Anyone caught flytipping in the district will be prosecuted. It is also an offence to permit flytipping. Offenders can:
- Be fined up to £50,000 and/or face a prison sentence and a criminal record
- Face an unlimited fine and/or five years in prison if the case goes to crown court
If flytipped waste is dumped from a vehicle, the person who is found to be in control of the vehicle could also be prosecuted.
Illegal dumping - name and shame
As a member of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire we are working with local residents and our neighbouring councils to tackle flytipping in Bucks.
The Partnership's "Name and Shame" campaign publishes a list of individuals and companies convicted for flytipping or duty of care offences. The list is updated regularly - there's no getting away with it. To see the list, visit the illegal dumping page on Buckinghamshire County Council's website using the link below.
