Air pollution
Air pollution is a mixture of particles and gases. Some of these occur naturally and some are products of our everyday activities such as driving. Substances that we put into the air can alter the quality of the air we breathe.
Air quality management
Under the Environment Act 1995 (EA 1995) councils are required to undertake air quality reviews to highlight any possible breeches in national air quality objectives. In areas where the objectives are not met, Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) are established to improve air quality.
