Woodlands and nature reserves
Listed below are the woodland sites that we manage.
To reflect their importance for conservation and the local community, five have been designated Local Nature Reserves (LNR) by Natural England (See link below). Nine are designated by the Bucks Milton Keynes Biodiversity Partnership
as Local Wildlife Sites (LWS) in recognition of their value for local wildlife.
These sites are open to the public 365 days a year and entrance is free. The only exception is Funges Meadow - this nature reserve is only open to the public for special events.
To find out what the sites have to offer see the links below to their homepages.
These homepages give you information including:
- My Wycombe link to view location
- Area profile
- Best time to visit
- Wildlife in the area
- Interpretation leaflets and panels - which are free to download.
- They will also be the place to look for information on each site such as current conservation projects.
The leaflets provide you with a map showing the network of paths to help you navigate each site, picnic benches and viewpoints, as well as detailing some interesting background information such as history and wildlife.
We really encourage you to download the leaflet (or collect one from one of the Tourist Information Centres) and go out to the site to explore, discover and enjoy your local woodland!
We are currently updating and reviewing our leaflet series, there are exciting new opportunities for businesses to become conservation partners at our sites.
