Linking to our website

You do not have to ask permission to link directly to pages on our website. However, we do not permit our pages to be loaded into frames on your site. Our pages must load into the user's entire window.

Link requests from our website

Requests for links should be sent to webmanager@wycombe.gov.uk.

Requests will be acknowledged by email and referred to this linking policy. We are unable to respond to all link requests personally.

Each request for a link from our website will be assessed using the criteria below. If we decide to include your link, you will be notified by email within five working days. If you do not hear from us, we will not be including your link.

The final decision for including a link is entirely at our discretion.

Criteria for linking to external websites

Links may be considered suitable if:

  1. They add value to the service we offer our customers
  2. They provide useful advice in the context of existing website content
  3. The link is to a third party who we are working with
  4. They are deep links to neighbouring council's web pages from a similar or related content page of the website

Links may be considered unsuitable if:

  1. We consider the website is not being kept up-to-date
  2. The website is not accessible
  3. The request is from a commercial organisation. This includes individuals offering services for profit
  4. The request promotes commercial activity that could be seen as a council endorsement a specific external services provider or organisation
  5. The request is from an organisation whose operations are at variance with our objectives and policies about equality and diversity
  6. The content is considered to be unsuitable. We will not link to websites with a political affinity, or any unlawful, defamatory, obscene, offensive or scandalous material. Or any material that constitutes or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, likely to give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violates any law
  7. We believe requests have been made by individuals who are impersonating or falsely claiming to represent a person or organisation
  8. The request appears to be primarily motivated to improve a website's search engine rankings
  9. We do not have an existing, appropriate context on our website from which to link
  10. We already link to a more comprehensive source of information that includes the link requested or provides trustworthy, equivalent information
