Place Survey

The most recent place survey took place in 2008. Results show that 84 % of people think Wycombe is a good place to live - 4% above the national average and slightly above the South East regional average.

The 1400 local residents surveyed identified their top priorities as

  • addressing crime
  • a quality health service
  • clean streets

Areas in most need of improvement were identified as:

  • roads and pavement repairs
  • traffic congestion
  • activities for young people

In line with other councils across the country, we saw a decline in public satisfaction with:

  • 45% saying they were satisfied with the way we run things
  • 36% were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied
  • 19% were dissatisfied

75% said they were treated fairly most or all of the time by public services in the area. Top performing council services were theatres and parks and open spaces while highest satisfaction scores were recorded by fire and rescue, GPs and dentists.

Details of the results for all councils across England can be found on the Communities and Local Government website (see link below).

The requirement to carry out a place survey has been removed by Central Government, no further surveys will be carried out in the future.
